The club held its Christmas Party on 16th December. Some of our members were unable to attend, so this short account is for their benefit.
We convened at 6:30 pm in the Pavilion Room where food and drink had been set out by the committee. Various members had kindly brought the food, and the club provided wine and soft drinks. Everyone tucked in and spent time catching up with the news and individual plans for Christmas.
At 7:30 the trophy winners were announced and presentations made.
The Motcombe Bridge Shield was presented to Lincoln Waller and David Wooldrige who finished the year on an average of 59.19%.
The Peter and Anita Alford Cup for the highest pair score in the year was won by Amanda Brown and Russel Shipley. neither were able to attend on the night, so the presentation will be made in the new year.
The Fred Blake Memorial Crystal Bowl for the highest pair score on British Heart Foundation charity night (8th April 2016) was won by Mike Crossley and Kirsty Wells with a score of 66.67%. Neither were able to attend on the night, so the presentation will be made in the new year.
The Vi and Bill Cooper Cup for the most improved player below 50% was awarded to Huw Griffiths with a mean improvement of 2.42% per quarter in rolling average. Neither Huw nor the trophy were available on the night, so we have posted him a certificate until he can be presented with the trophy itself in the new year.
The Anita Alford Cup for the highest scoring individual playing Chicago on Cancer Research charity night (16th September 2016) was presented to John Taylor with a net score of +54 imps.
